Just look at it. Okay, it looks exactly the same as a regular Thumbs Up. But the Match Technical Titanium Thumbs Up EP-10s is machined from a solid piece of titanium. So it’s better. Because titanium. The nifty little thumb hook is 13 grams lighter than it’s brass daddy but the futuristic metal version will set you back a whopping $225 USD. But that’s only money. And this is titanium! Hit the jump for more info! Titanium.
Match Technical Titanium Thumbs Up EP-10S
The Titanium Thumbs Up EP-10S is a grip enhancement for the Leica M 240 camera that many photographers consider a must have accessory. It secures snugly into the hotshoe and provides a solid hook for your thumb and gives you excellent purchase for positioning your camera with one hand. Once you try one you’ll probably never go back to shooting bareback again.
The Titanium Thumbs Up EP-10S is identical to it’s brass daddy but the key difference is the weight: 17 grams for this titanium model versus 30 grams for the standard, brass EP-10S. It comes in black paint and chrome finishes to match your Leica M 240 and the finish will wear with continued use to reveal a unique raw titanium color.
You’ve heard of brassing. Ya, now we got titaniuming. This is going to catch on!
The Match Technical Titanium Thumbs Up is available online from the Leica Store Miami:
The plain old brass Thumbs Up is also available:
As much as I like them, I don’t use a Thumbs Up of any sort on my M 240. I’m a neck strap kind of shooter and found that protruding thumb hook digs into my chest and catches on my clothing. This being said I know a lot of people who swear by them. They add that extra bit of grip that makes your camera feel perfectly balanced and nimble in your hand.
But titanium? Really? The Titanium Thumbs Up EP-10S is $225 which is $90 more than the brass version. Granted, it’s 13 grams lighter but we’re not on a mission to Mars where that amount of weight would actually mean something. Hard to justify the extra cost for street photography.
But still… Titanium.
