Many thanks to my friend, Siri Thompson for helping me curate this excellent list of street photographs featuring dogs!

StreetShootr’s Take

Some people might think that street photography needs to include images of people. But for me, street is more of an aesthetic, a vibe rather than a specific set of conditions governing subject matter or location. All of these shots appear to be candid and unposed (have you ever tried getting a dog to cooperate with a camera?) and exhibit a kind of tenuous hyperreality that I personally associate with street photography. As if the shots were pulled from between the lines as life tells its own story, oblivious to the photographer’s quest.

Whether you call these shots street or not, there’s no doubt that there’s some pretty damn fine photography on display here. And that’s never a bad thing!

What’s your take on street photographs featuring dogs? Fair game or a something that shouldn’t be called street photography at all? Post your ideas in the comments below and keep the conversation going!
